Pulling from traditional Latina birthday celebrations and what it means to be “Brown & Proud” in Los Angeles, we created the Center’s first Latinx heritage month event, Queerceañera. Leaning on the airbrush aesthetic popularized by young cholas in the 90s, we built social media assets that created interest and brought over 500 attendees, many of which had never attended a Center event.
